Director of New Office of Educational Partnerships and Student Advocacy Selected

Vice Chancellor for Student Life Zebulun R. Davenport announced the appointment of Amy Arbino Wylie as the first director of the new Office of Educational Partnerships and Student Advocacy.

Wylie comes to IUPUI with 18 years of experience working in student affairs. She is currently the associate dean of students for orientation and parent programs at Northern Kentucky University. In addition to her nearly eight years of experience at NKU, Wylie has also served in multiple roles including the director of student development and coordinator of leadership development at the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati and as the coordinator of student activities at The Ohio State University-Mansfield and North Central Technical College.

“I am very pleased that IUPUI’s Division of Student Life will be hiring a professional with the skill set and capabilities that Amy Wylie brings,” Davenport said.  “Her experience, knowledge, and expertise in student learning and assessment will assist this division in our continued effort to positively impact the learning and development of our students.”

In her role as associate dean of students for orientation and parent programs at NKU, Wylie created the Office of New Student Orientation, developing staff positions, budgeting processes, and operational procedures. As the first director of the Office of Educational Partnerships and Student Advocacy, Wylie will provide leadership for the development of curricular and co-curricular programs and services designed to enhance student transitions and pathways to success including student advocacy, parent and family programs, first-year programs, academic engagement, and off-campus life. This new office will be located on the third floor of the Campus Center.

“I am excited to be joining the Division of Student Life at IUPUI because my own professional philosophy aligns closely with the mission of the Division,” Wylie said. “I am passionate about working with students and their families to develop partnerships and provide them with the tools they need to be successful throughout the college experience.”  Wylie indicated that she is “looking forward to being a part of the team and making a difference in the lives of IUPUI students and families.”

Wylie received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in human services from Northern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in student personnel administration from Ball State University. She will begin her position at IUPUI on May 23, 2012.
