Student Building Manager (multiple positions)

A student building manager will be scheduled in the building whenever it is open, and will act as representatives of the Campus Center Administrative staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients and guests of the Campus Center
  • Manage the process for Opening and/or Closing the building each day
  • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual and the Employee Manual
  • Maintain a mastery understanding of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, and campus events
  • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
  • Understand procedures and processes related to Event Services
  • Assist at the Information Desk, with room setups, and in the Game Room or Art Gallery, if needed
  • Complete all daily log forms, opening and closing reports, and other paper work throughout shift
  • Make rounds in the building each hour to communicate and enforce Campus Center polices with all guests, identify and resolve any situations that endanger safety, track building usage at entrances/exits, and check for building maintenance problems
  • Perform weekly tasks to help maintain an updated inventory of all general building furniture (commons areas, lounges, game room) for maintenance and replacement
  • Attend all appropriate staff meetings, and training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Previous customer service work experience, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, attention to details is a must, reliable personal transportation, strong time management skills, strong interpersonal relationship skills, and the physical ability to assist with furniture and technology setups, if needed. This position requires a great deal of interaction with guests, students, and faculty/staff. Excellent verbal communication skills are required. Candidates must be in academic and judicial good standing, and must have completed at least one semester of full-time enrollment at IUPUI. All employees of the Campus Center must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests. This position requires a lot of movement around the building and interacting with building guests, as well and an ability to assist with furniture and technology setups if needed.

Scheduling

Building managers that open and/or close the building must be available for a minimum 3-hour shift when they open or close the building. All building mangers must be willing and available open or close the building 2-3 days each week, and work hours during the day on a set schedule throughout each semester. Work hours are available between 6:30 am–11:00 pm. Winter break, spring break, and summer hours are also available.

Supervision: Associate Director and Assistant Director for Nights & Weekends
Compensation: $10.00 per hour

Information Desk Attendant (multiple positions)

This is a customer service position. Employees provide information about the Campus Center facility, building tenants and their services, campus events, and the IUPUI campus in general.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to anyone that enters or utilizes the building, this includes providing general information, directions, resource material, and other assistance as requested and needed
  • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual, and the Campus Center Student Employee Manual
  • Maintain a mastery understanding of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events, and general campus information
  • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
  • Assist with room setups, and work in the Game Room, as needed
  • Completes all daily log forms, reports, and other paper work throughout shift
  • Attendance at all trainings, and staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Game Room/TV Lounge Attendant (multiple positions)

This is a customer service position. Employees provide general supervision of the Game Room and TV Lounge spaces, and assist IUPUI guests to check out and use equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to anyone that enters or utilizes the building
  • Enforce Game Room policies and procedures with all eligible guests
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized Game Room and TV Lounge
  • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual, and the Campus Center Student Employee Manual
  • Maintain a mastery understanding the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events, and general campus Information
  • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
  • Help keep the Game Room in good condition
  • Keep an accurate inventory of all Game Room equipment for maintenance and replacement
  • Completes all daily log forms, reports, and other paper work throughout shift
  • Attendance at all trainings, and staff meetings
Time Commitment

Employees must be available to work a variety hours during the morning, day, evening and on weekends, whenever the Campus Center facility is open (academic semesters, semester break, spring break, and during the summer). In general, work shifts are available 6:30 am–11:00 pm.

An interest in a variety of video and recreational games is a plus. Candidates must be in good academic and judicial standing. Event Scheduling Assistants (2-3 positions)

This is a customer service position. Employees will assist with all aspects of the event management process and contact with clients hosting events in the Campus Center is required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide information to clients regarding room availability, costs, and the request process to clients interested in hosting events in the Campus Center
  • Serve as a customer service representative for designated special events that may occur during the day, evening or on weekends
  • Schedule a wide range of meetings and events using EMS software program
  • Provide information and support to clients (student organizations, university departments, off-campus groups) to successfully plan and execute events using Campus Center resources
  • Assist with the overall assessment of services, and the tracking of attendance for events
  • Assist with processing paperwork related to events (request forms, room confirmations, equipment needs and setup notes, monthly billing invoices)
  • Coordinate the distribution, setup, and collection of table tents, window banners, easel displays, bulletin board postings
  • Assist with room furniture and technology setups for events, including locking and unlocking of rooms
  • Enforcement of all policies and procedures regarding room usage
  • Attend appropriate staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements

Previous customer service related work and/or experience in event planning, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, strong attention to details, strong computer and data entry skills, reliable personal transportation, strong personal time management skills, and a physical ability to assist with furniture and technology setups, if needed. A friendly, helpful, patient and positive attitude are required. Candidates must be in good academic and judicial standing. TCEM students are highly preferred for these positions. All Campus Center employees must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

The employees must be available to work approximately 10-20 hours per week. Flexibility is appreciated required to be available during special events that occur in the evening and on the weekends.

Set-Up Crew (multiple positions)

This is a customer service position. Employees are responsible for setting up and tearing down furniture setup and technology equipment for events in the Campus Center.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform room set-ups (room furniture and technology equipment) for events scheduled in Campus Center spaces
    • Do furniture setups based on information provided in the daily setup worksheet
    • Setup necessary technology equipment (screens, projectors, sound equipment)
    • Setup any other resources (staging, easels, podiums)
    • Unlock the meeting rooms at designated times
  • Reset rooms after each event:
    • Reset rooms after each event (tear down furniture, reset to standard)
    • Complete a room evaluation at the end of each event (used to assess for any damages)
    • Return any non-standard technology equipment and resources to the Administrative Office
    • Make sure tables, chairs, and floors are clean
    • Lock the room
  • Assist with tracking event attendance information
  • Setup and tear down Information Tables at specified times
  • Assist with the distribution and collection of table tents, banners, and poster displays as requested
  • Do daily inventory checks on all meeting room furniture and resources to check for any needed repairs and/or replacement
  • Attend appropriate staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements

Previous customer service work experience, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, great attention to details, reliable personal transportation, good time management skills, and the physical ability to move and setup furniture and technology equipment on a daily basis. Confidence and familiarity with setting up technology is a plus. Candidates must be in academic and judicial good standing. This position requires the ability to lift, move furniture no more than 20 pounds, the ability to follow specific instructions (written and verbal), and to setup of a variety of technology equipment for meetings and events. Employees must be in overall good physical condition. Candidates must be available to work a variety hours during the morning, day, evening and on weekends, whenever the Campus Center facility is open (fall/spring academic semester, semester break, spring break, summer). In general, work shifts are available between 6:30 am–11:00 pm.

Hospitality Team (2 positions)

This is a customer service position. Employees are responsible for helping maintain a clean and welcoming environment in the 1st Floor Citizen's Commons and the 2nd Floor Commons areas in the Campus Center. Occasionally staff may be needed to assist in maintaining clean tables in meeting rooms.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Wipe down furniture as needed to provide clean table and chair surfaces for eating, studying, and relaxing
  • Use mop to clean beverage and food spills
  • Attend appropriate staff meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with wiping down meeting room tables, as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned
