Facilities

Our facilities are available for rental when academic, athletic, recreational or intramural events are not scheduled. The School of Physical Education and Tourism Management is responsible for contracting rentals. Please go here: Facility Rental for more information and to complete a Rental Request Form.

Summer Hours of Operation

The following is the Summer Campus Recreation schedule for informal and recreational use by all IUPUI students, faculty and staff that have paid the recreation fee. Recreation fee may be paid online during registration for IUPUI academic classes or at the IU Natatorium Front Desk (pool deck level, PE/NT building). Their hours are Monday — Thursday, 5:30 am – 8:00 pm and Friday, 5:30 am – 4:00 pm. You must carry your valid IUPUI I.D./Jag Tag in this facility at all times for entrance and access to all of the facilities.

Weight Room (PE014)

Monday — Friday: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Fitness Center (PE015)

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Natatorium Fitness Center

Located on the pool deck in the right corner, behind the diving wells.

Monday — Thursday: 5:30 am – 8:00 pm
Friday: 5:30 am – 4:00 pm

Natatorium Competition Pool

Monday — Thursday: 5:30 am – 8:00 pm
Friday: 5:30 am – 4:00 pm

Natatorium Instructional Pool

Monday — Thursday: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Please use East Natatorium Locker Rooms. Instructional Pool may be open during any conflict of events in the Competition Pool. (Closing schedule published monthly and is available at the Natatorium front desk.) Call the Natatorium Front Desk: (317) 274-3518.

Racquetball Court (PE153)

Monday — Friday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Reservations are required
Racquetballs, racquets and goggles available in PE 043

Outdoor Facilities (Track, Softball, Instructional Fields)

Available as weather permits. Users must enter through tunnel at west end of P.E. Building, and walk around Instructional Field during classes. Outdoor fields must be reserved in advance by calling (317) 274-2824.

PE Locker Rooms (PE053 & PE054)

$19.00 Locker Fee Rental: Payment can be made at the IU Natatorium Service Desk during the semester (or) online when registering for IUPUI academic classes. Claim ticket from Natatorium Front desk and take to laundry room attendant (PE062) for locker assignment and combination.

School of Physical Education & Tourism Management and IU Natatorium

IUPUI School of Physical Education and Tourism Management and the IU Natatorium, opened in 1982. The cost of 21.5 million dollars ($13 million private gifts, $7 million Indiana University, and $1.5 million Economic Development Administration grant).

The entire complex is 220,000 gross square feet; School of Physical Education and Tourism Management portion is 68,000 square feet. The entire building is 525 feet and the height is 90 feet (from pool deck to ceiling).

Main Gymnasium (PE 150) is adaptable to three practice courts or one competition court.
Auxiliary Gymnasium (PE 156) has a mirrored wall and barre for dance classes.

Administrative faculty offices
An enclosed overhead pedestrian walkway (affectionately known as the "gerbil walkway") connecting the building with the Education/Social Work Building across New York Street.

IU Michael A. Carrol Track & Soccer Stadium

School of Physical Education & Tourism Management Athletic Fields

Located east and west sides of the IU Michael A Carrol Track & Soccer Stadium and just west of the Physical Education and Tourism Management and the IU Natatorium building.
Three fast pitch softball fields are located to the west of the Track & Soccer Stadium.
One instructional field located to the east of the west of the Track & Soccer Stadium is for instructional classes, intramural and recreational programming and intercollegiate purposes.
