The Campus & Community Life office serves to enhance student involvement through programs, student organizations, leadership opportunities, and experiences for students that allow for the practical application of what is learned in the classroom. C&CL provides a balance of challenge and support designed to enhance students' educational growth.

The Campus & Community Life office is located on the third floor of the new Campus Center, in Suite 370.

Changes in Campus & Community Life

I want to let you know about some exciting changes happening in Student Life at IUPUI, in our Campus & Community Life (CCL) area.

Effective July 1, 2008, Michelle Verduzco will be leaving CCL to focus more time and energy on the very successful "To Mexico with Love" program. Patty Alvarez will join the CCL team as the Interim Director. Patty, a native Hoosier and former IUPUI staff member, brings great experience with her and comes to us from the University of Maryland - College Park.

A number of new full-time and graduate assistant staff will be joining CCL in the upcoming year. Also, we are restructuring the department to better serve you - the student leaders of IUPUI.

Below is a summary of some of the changes in CCL, effective July 1, 2008:

• Student organizations and their advisors will now work with Diana Sims-Harris
• Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB) will now be advised by Sandy Flowers. Also, First Year Programs, including University College Student Council (UCSC) and Weeks of Welcome (WoW) will now be advised by Sandy.
• Nicole Oglesby will be joining the CCL team and will provide leadership for the department's diversity efforts. She will also serve as a liason to the new IUPUI Multicultural Center.
• The Office of Community Service will now work with Patty Mathison, a new staff member coming to us from Appalachian State University.
• Fraternity and Sorority Life will be working with a new coordinator. We are currently in the process of hiring that individual.

I invite you to come meet all of the CCL staff during our open house event, which will kick off the 2008-2009 school year. More information on this event will come soon.
