	<title>IUPUI Holds First Ever Regional Fraternity and Sorority Advisors Training</title>

	<link>http://life.iupui.edu/news/4160/IUPUI-Holds-First-Ever-Regional-Fraternity-and-Sorority-Advisors-Training</link>
	<description>Indianapolis, IN &amp;ndash; August 11, 2009 &amp;ndash; For many, weekends are typically reserved for personal relaxation and errands. For 70 fraternity and sorority volunteers, this past Saturday was a time to refresh their advising skills and get ready for the new academic year.
Hosted at the Indiana University &amp;ndash; Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Campus Center, this regional training marked a unique five campus collaboration between Butler, DePauw, Indiana, IUPUI and Purdue universities. This opportunity allowed each campus to pull together resources and provide a strong event which focused on advising tips and strategies, utilizing online technologies, and a variety of hot topics.
&amp;ldquo;The Area Advisor&amp;rsquo;s Training reenergized me for the volunteer work I do with my organization,&amp;rdquo; commented Stephanie Lee who volunteers as a sorority advisor at IUPUI. &amp;ldquo;It was great to meet other volunteers, share best practice information, and learn how we can be better advisors to our students.&amp;rdquo;
The coordinating team representing each university was very pleased with the event and is currently exploring options for continuing and expanding future campus collaborations.
