IUPUI has many initiatives focused on sustainability. The Office of Student Involvement promotes sustainability and green living in several ways.

Green and Sustainability Fair

As part of Weeks of Welcome, 2011 will be the third annual Green and Sustainability Fair. In 2010, over 20 local nonprofits and IUPUI student organizations came together to share opportunities, resources and ideas around the theme of environmental sustainability.

Common Theme

The 2009-2011 IUPUI Common Theme is focused on environmental sustainability. The IUPUI community is working to engage faculty, staff and students in an environment where we are aware of our impact through initiatives focused on a common reader. This year's common reader is Colin Beavan's No Impact Man. OSI supports the Common Theme through educational presentations that are offered to learning communities and first year seminars.

No Impact Week

IUPUI is where IMPACT is made every day. As part of the national No Impact Project, and in conjunction with the Common Theme, IUPUI hosted the first No Impact Week focused on reducing environmental impact. Through service projects, speaker panels and community-based events, the IUPUI community came together to learn about sustainability around the following topics: trash/consumption, transportation, food, energy and water.
