Information for Community Partners

IUPUI has over 30,000 potential volunteers on our campus and we want to connect them with your organization! Below is information on how to best work with us.

To get you started, you may want to check out the IUPUI Center for Service and Learning web site, which includes resources for community organizations, including an online volunteer request form.

One-time or Ongoing Service Projects

If you are interested in hosting our volunteers for one-time or ongoing service placements, contact Patty Mathison at the Office of Community Service at (317) 274-2504 or pmathiso@iupui.edu.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

We can distribute information to our campus about ongoing volunteer opportunities in several ways.

One-time Volunteer Projects

If you have some quality service projects for 5 or more volunteers, please consider hosting IUPUI volunteers during our one time service projects. Our volunteers desire to engage in a variety of projects, from cleaning, painting and sorting, to interaction with your clients by serving a meal or hosting a party. Often we may be able to provide funding for supplies needed for the event (e.g., cleaning supplies, paint, craft supplies, etc.) if you can work with us beforehand. We want to be able to match our volunteers to your (and our) needs, so the further in advance we can work together, the more successful the project can be!

Volunteer Recruitment on Campus

To publicize your volunteer opportunities through IUPUI campus email, fill out the online form and click on "Need IUPUI Volunteers?" We will send out your opportunity on the IUPUI Volunteer Email Listserv, which currently has over 1,600 members. We can also work to connect you to student organizations and other volunteers to your opportunities through email and personal contacts.

We always need copies of your brochures or flyers for display in our volunteer resource area. For best results, we would like at least 25 brochures or information sheets that discuss how to volunteer at your organization. We accept brochures at any time in the academic year, which may be sent our address below. We can also print out flyers that you send as an e-mail attachment and make copies for the volunteer resource area. If you desire to post flyers on campus, you can submit copies of flyers to the Office of Community Service and we will post them for you. You can send your copies of your brochure or flyer to:

Office of the Community Service
420 University Blvd., CE 375
Indianapolis, IN 46202

or e-mail them to commserv@iupui.edu.

We also refer potential volunteers to Volunteer Match, the United Way volunteer site and Help Indy Online, so we encourage you to post on any of these sites. We are looking forward to working with you! Please don't hesitate to contact us.
